Cyber
Case Study
Adapei

Adapei (Pyrénées-Atlantiques regionis a health and social care association that operates a critical information system serving vulnerable populations.

With more than 600 workstations and dozens of servers, cybersecurity has become a key issue, both to ensure business continuity and to protect sensitive data.

Context

Before being supported by its partner Hexanet, the association already had a security solution that included EDR and EPP, but the organization wanted to migrate to a more high-performance solution that was easier to deploy.

At the same time, Adapei had committed to a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach. This naturally led to an increased need for sovereignty over their digital tools, particularly for cybersecurity solutions, all within a highly constrained budgetary context. to A tedious migration to their previous provider made those constraints even tighter.

Why HarfangLab?

HarfangLab emerged as a coherent response to the need for performance and sovereignty. The 100% European EDR met both their advanced security requirements and the need to keep control over the tools deployed in their workspace. The platform also offered a gradual rollout, allowing maturity to be achieved without disrupting the association’s teams.

Beyond technology, Adapei was looking for a partner capable of providing efficient operational support. Hexanet stood out for the quality of its customer relations, the proximity of its teams, and the strength of its SOC. The ability to offer a comprehensive package, including security supervision and email protection, also weighed in the decision.

“HarfangLab met our expectations, particularly in terms of sovereignty and EDR performance. In addition, Hexanet enabled us to migrate within our budget, which greatly facilitated the decision-making process.”

Deployment and support

The deployment of HarfangLab EDR and Hexanet’s managed SOC went smoothly. Despite Adapei’s small IT team, the project was able to move forward quickly thanks to the involvement of the Hexanet teams and their ability to adapt to the technical constraints of Adapei.

The initial procedures were adjusted to suit the context of Adapei. A mass deployment method was then implemented, without friction or interruption for users. Within a week, nearly 70% of the IT fleet was protected. Within a few more weeks, all workstations and servers were covered.

Support is ongoing. The Hexanet SOC provides continuous monitoring and regular communication via a dedicated channel. The teams are available on a daily basis and organize monthly meetings to share alerts, analyze events, and adjust security rules.

“The protection now covers all of our workstations and servers, in a way that is completely transparent to users. We can see that our workspace is being properly monitored, with regular exchanges with the Hexanet SOC, which increases our level of confidence.”

Jean-Raymond Cabane, CIO

“The deployment of HarfangLab’s EDR and EPP was carried out gradually, initially via a POC to define the agent installation procedure. It had to be adapted to take into account Adapei’s context, particularly the uninstallation of the previously installed EDR and EPP solution.

Once this process had been defined and tested, a larger-scale deployment procedure could be defined, and the learning process could begin in a completely transparent manner for users. Specific attention was paid to critical servers to ensure that no blockages would impact the workspace.

Monthly meetings and numerous exchanges between the Adapei deployment team and Hexanet’s SOC team enabled effective monitoring of this crucial stage in the implementation of the HarfangLab’s platform. A new stage is currently being finalized based on the same principle, with the implementation of USB port control via EPP on a facility-by-facility basis.

Results

Since implementing Hexanet’s managed SOC and HarfangLab EDR, Adapei finally has complete visibility into the security of its information system. Alerts are contextualized and discussed with the Hexanet teams, which facilitates decision-making and management.

Compatibility issues related to the old solution, which caused malfunctions on workstations, are now a thing of the past, and updates are now carried out transparently for information system users.

The gain is also organizational for the IT department. The information system is under control. The operational load has decreased. The association can now confidently move forward with new security measures, such as audits, crisis management exercises, and intrusion tests.

“Today, our workspace is under control with a fluidity and precision that we had never achieved before.”
